1. Exploring Creative Hobbies for Relaxation
As I am practicing my humble amateur creative skills as a way to relax and reset, you may see me showcase my creations in this blog.
In my stressful world, I needed a hobby that would let me escape. I found myself watching a lot of TV or reading news or endlessly scrolling to numb my mind, and I realized that these activities were not fulfilling me. Now, they do serve a purpose and greatly help me sometimes. But I was not engaging in any activities that tapped into sides of me that deserved explorations.
Because I struggle with needing to be productive at all times (I am working on it), I am also pulled to put these tinkerings into seller platforms like Etsy and Amazon. I spend time creating/rewriting descriptions and learning, which also taps into another side of my brain and helps me shift my thoughts elsewhere. It is absolutely for my own amusements and relaxation, because I am not a successful seller. I don’t even know if I can be called a seller, because people just come to peruse my pages and no ones buys. It’s like a free very amateur art walk held inside a cafe. But that is not stopping me, because it is an outlet that is helping me. If it brings some joy and relaxation for someone to just peruse, then it has benefited both of us.
I am right now stuck on one of my favorite authors and life coaches – Jane Austen. So many of my creations have wise and fun Jane Austen quotes paired with vintage/retro pictures I personally curate from Canva or other publicly-free images. I am also creating coloring books, as they bring me a lot of joy. Finally, I tap into my serious side and also dabbled into few simple self-help worksheets.
I will be using my own photographs as well, because I have a large collection of photographs that I took for my own pleasure and that serve no real purpose. It’s nice to look at them again and reminiscence on the positive feelings that I had when I saw that scenery, people, or action.
Finally, the other silly reason you will see a lot of my creations right now is that I am still building this blog and need content. I have readily available content that I will use while I explore topics to cover and come up with hopefully interesting blogs. So please forgive the several posts you may see on my creations.
That said, thank you so very much for visiting my blog. I so appreciate your support and your interest. Thank you for your patience and understanding as I build this blog!
